I’ve been thinking a lot about the boobs on Game of Thrones (no, seriously, hear me out..). Although I’m sure they serve that function for a part of the audience, I don’t think they’re the same as porn or the way they were portrayed in that SNL skit ( http://screencrush.com/snl-game-of-thron.. ). I think they way they deploy boobs on that show is often actually quite genious. I’ve basically been mainlining all the Nerdist Writers Panel podcasts the past couple of weeks and one of the problems that keeps coming up amongst the TV writers on those panels is how to deal with exposition (ie. getting the audience caught up on what has and is about to happen). Exposition is necessary but usually boring, and if you write it badly you get really terrible dialogue that no real person would ever utter (“How long have we been brothers?”). Game of Thrones’ method of turning exposition into sexposition, like with Littlefinger’s prostitute school or Bronn’s monologue before the battle for Blackwater, is genious because it immediately removes all the boring from the scene (because boobs), but it also still gets across all the necessary story points. I’m telling you, those Game of Thrones guys are onto something..
zo geweldig genieten altijd, die journal pages!
